Gert & Uwe Tobias bring the KOG to life with their lighthearted, multi-layered art. Floral, animal, ornamental and enigmatic elements are brought together to create an unmistakable, colourful world of images with a captivating aesthetic. The two artists like to play with the boundary between abstraction and figuration. The familiar and the unexpected combine and inspire the imagination.

Collage is the principle of the artist duo. Fragments from their own works and from reproductions from the most varied origins come together. Their specially developed woodcut technique also works like a collage: the artists build up the motifs piece by piece by printing sawn-out wooden moulds.

Gert ert & Uwe Tobias have created a customised exhibition concept for the KOG. Older and newer works hang thematically united next to each other. They have transformed the museum foyer into a unique work of art.

Gert & Uwe Tobias (born 1973 in Brașov, Romania) are important representatives of a younger generation of artists with roots in Eastern Europe. The KOG is honouring their innovative, internationally significant work with the Lovis Corinth Preis.
